Due to my interest in both journalism and history, I want to write and film how events in the past are currently impacting the present. Being able to analyze and think critically about the past is crucial to the media industry today. A quote that inspires me is "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it," was written by Spanish philosopher George Santayana in his 1905 book "The Life of Reason." The quote was popularized by Winston Churchill and is personally inspirational to me because I try to look back at my past mistakes and wrong turns in life and then acknowledge them, so I can do better in the future.
I hope to have a specialization in a field of history that is still relevant to today, so that I will be an expert in that part of my reporting. Right now, I am interested in covering Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union and their global relations since.
